Frequently asked questions
Yes, we specialize in Oxford and Cambridge law interviews as all our consultants are Oxford or Cambridge law alumni who are in legal practice. Tackling law interviews requires candidates to adopt a specific kind of thinking when approaching law interview questions. This is what we are good at helping our students achieve.
We have found that applicants to Oxford or Cambridge who have the benefit of one-to-one coaching by an Oxbridge law alumni are better equipped to tackle challenging questions and shine at interview.
You are more likely to receive an offer by writing a great personal statement and practising for the interview so that you can impress the admissions tutor.
Our Oxbridge law alumni are all qualified lawyers who are in practice or who are in-house counsel and have been through the Oxbridge application process themselves. In other words, we know exactly what it means to be in your shoes and what it takes to succeed.
Please provide us with your draft personal statement and it will be reviewed by an Oxbridge law alumni who will provide comments to make it concise and succinct. The very best personal statements are those that focus on one topic or issue and explain why it motivates you to study law. This makes your personal statement much more effective and convincing.
Please note that we will not write your personal statement for you – you will have to provide us with your draft personal statement before we can provide feedback and comments.
At Oxbridge Law Prep, mock interviews are conducted by an Oxbridge law alumni who is also a qualified lawyer. During the mock interview, you will be given a case study and be asked challenging questions designed to test your style of thinking. Please note that your interviewer may also ask questions based on hypothetical legal scenarios that are not part of the case study.
Your interviewer will score your interview (as is standard Oxbridge practice). After the case study, there will be a general discussion on your performance and how you can improve on your interview and personal statement. There will also be 15 minutes reserved for a friendly Q&A with your interviewer and for discussion on application strategy.
After your mock interview, you will be provided with detailed feedback and follow-up on how to improve and further guidance on how to tackle law interview questions in an effective manner.
Please note that you will need to send in your draft personal statement at least 1 day before the mock interview assessment.
This includes a 1 hour interview with an Oxbridge law alumni and you will need to send in your draft personal statement at least 1 day in advance before your interview.
Please note that for this mock interview + personal statement package, your interviewer will only mark-up and provide comments on your draft personal statement AFTER the mock interview. This is for the interviewer to maintain impartiality during the mock interview assessment and to assess you objectively.
After the end of your interview, you will be provided with interview feedback and a detailed markup on your personal statement with suggestions on improvements. Your personal statement will be assessed separately.
To help you prepare for the mock interview assessment by our law alumni, we will be sharing a bonus guide with 30 real Oxbridge law questions with sample answers written by our law alumni. This bonus guide will be sent to your email after you have booked your mock interview.
This helps you get a real sense of how an Oxbridge law alumni would handle law interview questions and demonstrate their thought process.
This is an invaluable resource for any student applying to Oxbridge and is unique to Oxbridge Law Prep.
Most university admissions mock interviews are conducted by tutors who are not legally qualified or do not have a law degree and have never studied law at Oxbridge (for example, someone conducting a mock interview from a uni admissions agency may not necessarily have a degree in law). At Oxbridge Law Prep, all your interviews are conducted by Oxbridge law alumni who are actual lawyers, barristers or solicitors.
They have been through the actual interview process and know how to tackle law interview questions because they have been taught by the very same college fellows who may be conducting your interview!
Yes, we are particularly good at helping international students gain admission into Oxford or Cambridge. There are very important considerations to note if you are applying as an international student from Hong Kong, Singapore or Malaysia, so be sure to get in touch as early as possible so that we can help you with your application strategy.
Yes, you can use our service if you are applying to any UK university (including UCL, KCL or LSE). Your personal statement will still be reviewed by an Oxbridge law alumni and you will receive feedback on how to improve your personal statement to make it stand out.
Yes, you may reach out to us if you have any further questions at [email protected] and we will pass them on to your interviewer to respond. You can ask up to 2 follow up questions with your interviewer, so make them count!
Remember, your success is our success and at the end of the day, we want to you achieve your dream offer from Oxford or Cambridge.
